About

Who am I?

I am Alyssa Mckenzie, a fourth grade teacher in Weyburn, SK. I have had the pleasure of teaching and shaping minds for 8 years now.  I am lucky to be able to teach at a school where I can practice my Catholic faith.

While I had originally went into teaching with plans to teach high school history, I have grown to truly love teaching elementary students, especially in Grade 4.  They keep me on my toes and entertained with all of their shenanigans, and generally positive attitudes about school.

I have a love of horses, horseback riding and have a special place in my heart for rodeo, especially barrel racing. I got married last year to a farmer and have been learning lots about farming and all it entails as a farmers wife.  I find life on the farm to be peaceful and busy, especially in the seeding, spraying, harvesting…and all seasons if we are honest! In my spare time, when I get some, I like to read books, cook and spend time with my family.

I am currently working on my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction.  The technology classes I am taking have always been an area I feel there is always more to learn and is always changing. I really enjoy leaning new areas and skills I can transfer to my students, who at times seem to be more knowledgeable than me in tech areas.
